a white haunting

All the love and thanks to Brian Dang for trusting us with this home invasion script that is imaginative, hilarious, and absolutely terrifying. The script asks that the violence of the play be non-literal but leaves it up to the interpretation of the director and creative team.

For this premiere, the whole team fell in love with Brian's stage directions so we lightly edited them (with approval) and played them in calming voiceover as the violence took place in slow motion. Instead of actual violent impacts or blood, we used glitter confetti and chalk in the colors of blood and bruising to mar the space. The overall effect was a chilling normalization of white violence on brown, queer folk just trying to live and love.
